We all know our flaws and problems. We know we’re addicted to such and such. But we just don’t know what to do about it. And perhaps like me, you’ve confronted this demon a few times already and promise yourself the umpteenth time that you’ll stay away from that strawberry cheesecake! Yes, it is easier said then done.
What happens if a friend offered it to me or I’m at a party surrounded by sweets? Can I resist? I don’t think I have the will power to do so. What if I’m out and about, what am I to do?
Here are some tips and suggestion. The key is to prepare for these situations beforehand. These simple tips can yield you much strength and power when face with food craving temptation. These are some things to help tame that crazy instant gratification monster. Because we know, when it is loose, it is beyond our control in most cases. And we loose all awareness, logic, and will power to make the right choices. If we are tempted to reach for that sweet, ain’t nothing is going to stop us unless a delicious healthy plate of salad or tasty fruit jumps in front and blocks our hands from grabbing that tempting unhealthy dessert.
5 Tips to Handle Your Food Craving Temptation & Keep You on Track Your Healthy Meal Path:
- Eliminate junks and processed food from your kitchen completely. If you don’t have it around, more than likely–you won’t eat it.
- Replace it with vegetables, fruits, and more healthy selection of food.
- Don’t go out on an empty stomach if you can help it. Eat a healthy meal before you head out. This will help you make better choices at the party since your stomach is no longer doing the thinking.
- Pack your own meals with you if possible. I know, I swear. I would not be one of those people with little snacks in their purse or carrying their lunchbox to work everyday. But you know what, if you could prepare your own meal and have it with you, it’ll reduce or even prevent you from eating out and having to buy those unhealthy expensive restaurant meals. (Those meals do add up to quite a tab over time. The good news is you might even have some extra cash in your pocket at the end of the month for other things. That’s always good.)
- However, if you do find yourself eating out. Choose the healthier alternative. If there isn’t much to choose from, try to eat a lesser amount of the unhealthy meal. Just enough to satiate you. But don’t over stuff yourself.
