“I’m starting with the man in the mirror, I’m asking him to change his ways.” is the chorus to Michael Jackson’s song ‘Man in the Mirror’. Beautiful message, isn’t it?

Turtle Alex Looking in the MirrorHow many times do we see our own reflection and cringed because we know we could be so much better. That the person staring back at us is not our best self.

See, you should feel proud of who you are when you look in the mirror. Because in your heart you know you’re doing all you can in this moment. That you’re moving forward and becoming the man or the woman you see yourself as.

Recently, a friend wrote this “You’re chasing in the wrong field. What you are looking for is inside of you, not ‘out there’.” This ring so true for most of us. Doesn’t it. We spend so much time and effort…almost our entire life (that is if we haven’t dawn on this idea already) searching and hoping that somewhere out there is the golden key we are looking for.

How many times, do you see people flocking to gurus who claimed they have the ultimate answer? Perhaps, we’re vulnerable at the moment and the desperation kicks in and got the best of us. And we fail to realize, the golden key was hidden inside of us –all along.

Or maybe these teachers do hold an answer that will eventually guide us to our path. But still, they only point the direction. The rest of the work is up to us. And it’ll take guts to look at our buried demons and say, “Yes, I am willing to change now.”

Siedah Garrett and Glen Ballard are pure geniuses when they wrote this song ‘Man in the Mirror’. They know. Michael knows. They all know the answers are buried deep within us. And we just have to look inside and start the changes from there.
