Heal Your Body

Okay. Okay. So it took me a while to finally make the call and get a hold of my brother Lo to ask him about his Ultimate Colon Cleanse experience. He didn’t quite go through the whole 90 day cleansing program. He only did their 30 day free trial. His reason, he discovered he needed to eat better. Eat healthier. Eat his vegetables! And cut out his excessive meat eating and processed food. He decided to cut it short and take a different route instead.

I tried recording the telephone conversation-interview (with Lo’s permission of course) but ended up only getting my voice due to technical difficulties. My fault entirely for not knowing fully how to work the software. Below is a short written summary of our talk to the best of my memory.

Faey: So what did you notice from your 30 day free trail of Ultimate Colon Cleanse?

Lo: Well Faey, I’m gonna to tell ya this, I lost 6-7 pounds on it, not that I did it to loose weight because I’m not fat at all. (It’s true, he’s exceptionally thin. If anything, he could gain 5 or 10 pounds.) And my skin ashy-ness went away. Got more energy. Not that I have no energy before. I always had a lot of energy. But I do have more energy than usual.

Faey: What made you try it? Why did you do a colon cleanse?

Lo: I heard it will help me clean my body…and some claimed it healed their back. And my back is terrible…ever since my car accident. I wanted to see if this will work for me too.

Faey: And how are you feeling now?

Lo: I feel good. Lighter. More free. I can feel my stomach. And the food I eat just goes right through me…in a good way of course. And my bowel movement is easier and more natural. Once a day now.
And you know what really did it for me Faey, I changed the food I put in my body… and my back started to feel better. That food really help lessen the pain and inflammation on my lower back. It feels nice.

Faey: Were there any adverse affect on you? I mean, what did you not liked about it. What’s a typical day on it like?

Lo: Humm, you do have to go to the bathroom a lot.

Faey: How much more?

Lo: (Lo laughs.) Let’s just say, it’s unexpected sometimes, there’s a lot of flushing out, usually in the morning for me–just be near the toilet! But the pooping is a lot easier. So that’s a good thing…

Faey: What would you change about it?

Lo: (Lo chuckle.) Just the number 2 business.

Faey: There you have it, Lo’s experience of the Ultimate Colon Cleanse.

raw for life image

As for me, I am going to start incorporating more raw food into my diet. And 30% raw seems doable right now. Who knows where I would be in a year or so. Maybe it’ll stay the same or I might go 50% or 70% or 90%? (I hope.) I just know the thought of giving up charcoal barbecue chicken and my vegetable stew is not an option right at this moment. I can’t trade it in just yet. But perhaps one day, what I am going to reap from a raw diet will convince me to change my way.

Changes are uncomfortable. I mean—all our life we live a certain way and to expect yourself to suddenly jump onto a new bandwagon isn’t easy. New habits take time to build and adjust into. Sometimes we fall off, sometimes we need support to put us right back on the ride. Sometimes we just got to experience the pain and agony to really convince us that feeling better, lighter, healthier, and more energetic is way better than a burger or a pizza. Instant gratification. In my case, vegetable stew and BBQ chicken. Yum!

Honestly, I don’t know. Where this adventure will take me but I am hoping for the best! There’s enough social proof to say there’s something miraculous about this raw diet, and I just can’t let my doubts stop me. I have to go on the ride and test it for myself.

raw for life image

Extraordinary results gain simply by changing our lifestyle to a healthier alternative that takes care and appreciates our given vessel on this earth –our body. The more we take care of our body and nourish it, the better we feel, the more energy we have, the better our life!

We probably take better care of our car than we do of our physical body. For instance, we always check if we are putting lead or unleaded fuel into our vehicle. But do we stop to think –am I putting junk or fuel efficient nourishment for my own engine! See, we all do that at one time or another. It’s easy to be tempted and seduced by the scent of freshly fried or cooked food and them fresh off the grill steaks.

It’s very addictive. I get it. In fact, I am still eating it. I’m not saying go 100% RAW now. Just simply start incorporating more raw food into your diet and check how you feel. Then begin to slowly eliminate the food that has little nutritional value or that actually does more harm than good for our body like sugar, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, soda, junk food, fast food, processed food, packaged food, and eventually diary, meat, and cooked food. Go at your own pace, and continue educating yourself about your body and nutrition. The more we know, the better we can take care of our body, mind, and spirit.

Test drive it yourself. Maybe this raw thing will work for you? If not, then fine. Not all paths are right for every individual. Find your own road and see what feels right to you.

You can get started by watching Raw for Life – The Ultimate Encyclopedia of the Raw Food Lifestyle. Discover new tasty healthy recipes. And start educating yourself today!

raw for life image

Is going 100% raw the answer to all our problem? The documentary I watched, Raw for Life – The Ultimate Encyclopedia of the Raw Food Lifestyle certainly had enough raw enthusiasts routing for it. Yes, you might be thinking this is totally bias. They are mostly raw lovers and advocates. That’s true. But what about those who weren’t and then went raw and gain tons of health benefits.

For example, in Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days 6 diabetics volunteer to go on an organic raw retreat camp at Tree of Life centre in Arizona. They ate nothing but raw organic greens and fruits for 30 days straight in order to reverse disease without pharmaceutical medication. And what about Angela Stokes’ story; how she overcome her uncontrollable overeating and went from 279 pounds to 138 pounds and gain improvements in her health.

Then there’s Morgan Spurlock. You might remember him from the documentary film Super Size Me where he attempted to demonstrate the negative health effects of McDonald’s food by eating nothing but McDonalds three times a day, every day, for a whole month. After his 30 day McDonald’s diet, Morgan was put on a vegan detox diet by his wife, Alex. All caffeine, sugar, processed food were cut out and he essentially went cold turkey for 8 straight week. He said he went on a massive withdrawal like a drug addict. And was shaking. This lasted 3 days. Until his body finally detoxify the toxinicity levels. His body was able to reverse those created health issues from those fast food consumption.

Don’t these results speak for itself?

I know each individual is different and their body adapts differently, but essentially all human bodies are made to have a healing mechanism, right? Just like some of the experts explained in the documentary, that our body wants to heal itself –and if given the chance and the nutrition our body craves, then it pushes the toxic junk out of our system and replace it with more vital resources that repair and rejuvenate our cells. That’s why out of the six volunteers, those that weren’t seduced by their negative thoughts, discomforts, and temptations made it to the finish line with a new healthier body. They decreased their medication dosages or were no longer on insulin –some even became free from diabetes and fatigue!

Cool breathing demo tip from Rose Cole. In this video, Rose shows you how to do a proper alternate nostril breathing. Supposedly, it can also help you loose weight.

Love this breathing technique. I remember using it in some of my yoga classes. One yoga  instructor was especially adamant about it. She said it helps you sink into the meditation state quickly, brings more awareness, and that you get more out of your yoga practice just by implementing this alternate nostril breathing.

I have to agree with my yoga instructor, Maria, about this bringing more awareness –because by doing this practice my senses felt more keen. I also can understand adding this breath work to other exercises like yoga, tai chi, and other compatible exercising techniques, etc can enhance our weight loss and body toning abilities, but about losing weight solely base on this breathing technique –that’s questionable.

I injured my back a few months back because I did a new exercise called dead lift incorrectly. That put me several weeks out of the gym and I could not work out. And the worst was I could not even move. You might have seen the video I made talking about it. But what I forgot to add to my review on ‘Lose the Back Pain‘ is the Healthy Back Institute could have included extra video that does the exercises along with me. I am a visual learner and like to do things in a class-like environment. Doing the exercises as the instructor directs me; otherwise, I tend to skip out or not work it as hard.

I like that the Healthy Back Institute demonstrate how to do the exercises based on what sort of dysfunction you have. And that’s great if you are one of those people who just want to know what to do and enjoy going off and do everything on your own! But see, I am not like that. And for those of you reading this – who are like me. We would need a little more motivation even if we have the CDs already in our hands or the information in our heads. It’s not that we are lazy; we just like doing our exercises in a class or virtual class kind of environment. It’s more interactive. And we are an interactive type.

Other than that, the exercises are great. It really adjust the muscle imbalances. Which is the reason why our back is all out of whack in the first place. Although, if you are severely injured and can not move much of your limb like I was, I had to start with the easiest stretch movement exercises. Then work on from there as my body began to do better. Yes, it was quite painful and I doubted it’ll work, but there was no other alternative for me. I did not want to continue feeling the pain when there was a possible solution sitting there waiting for me to try. And a note: I even had to wait a few days at the start because moving my body was just not an option. But I did do the most I could by doing whatever stretch my body allowed me to do at the time.

If you have any questions for me, leave me a comment. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.

I am excited about a new thing my brother and sister are trying out. It’s called Ultimate Colon Cleanse. It’s suppose to help you get rid or the toxic build-up of waste material in your entire digestive system. It claims it keeps your colon clean so that all your waste can move freely, efficiently, and rapidly out of your body.

I asked my sister about it and why she decided to give it a try. She told me lately she woke up and isn’t happy with how she has been treating her body or where her life is going. She felt like she needed to take charge and start caring more for her body. She and my brother, Lo have been talking lately and sharing nutritional information and realize they both need to eliminate the not so healthy food they’ve been eating. So recently, the two of them have been taking baby steps to making the transition to more organic, healthier options.

I am so proud they are becoming more aware of the relationship between the food they eat and their body. Lora even emailed me about the Ultimate Colon Cleanse. I heard of it but haven’t tested it out myself. I’ve tried something close to it called 5-Day Bowel Detox Program from Dr. Schulze. So I am very curious if any of you know if this thing does what it says it’ll do. Please leave me comments if you have tried it or if someone close to you tried it. What benefits you got from it. If you could share your story here, I appreciated.

Lo is already on his 30 day trial. I’m going to call him later this week to see if he felt any apparent benefits yet. Keep your eyes open for my future posts of Lo and Lora’s progress.

Thank you in advance for your comments.
