Faey's Reviews

www.TruthAboutAbs.comYou know what is plastered all over the internet? The Truth About Abs ads. Everywhere I surf, there it was; on youtube, on facebook, on yahoo, on my gmail, and on health sites that I visit…the lists goes on and on. Got me curious, what the heck is this truth that I don’t know? Is there a way I can tighten my abs more easily than what I am already doing? Maybe, this Truth About Abs got the answer.

Luckily, a friend of mine had it so I just read his e-book. I like the different exercises that show how to work out my whole mid-section. The e-book was packed with lots of abdominal exercises that really work the abs hard. These are intermediate to mostly advance ab exercise that will really get you to work your tummy area. These ab workouts are tough! I use it at the gym and can not belief it, I did a few of them and I almost passed out. Unlike my regular sit ups where my feet are locked into the ab exercise machine–those I could do a max of 120 situps before getting exhausted. Guess I have a weaker ab than I thought.

This guy knows his stuff and got a ton of great information. However, I wish he included more pictures in there showing all the exercise moves because I am not a hardcore exercise fanatic (just yet) who knows all the name of the exercises and what or how to do them exactly. I am a visual learner and the written description just would not do it for me. I need the pictures from start, middle to end for ALL the exercises he is talking about. But if you are a quick learner and pick up things easily, then this e-book could be for you.

This book is more tailor towards intermediate or advance workout oriented people who already know their stuff but just need a few adjustments here and there to fine tune their workout. If you are a beginner or need a lot of help, I think you would need this book and a knowledgeable person there to correct your postures. Mike Geary, the author of this book, could have included more photos–maybe even a DVD demonstrating the workout.

Honestly, I think if you are more of a visual learner like me, your money can be better spent elsewhere. Get an easier ‘how to exercise at the gym’ book where all strength training exercises are drawn out, or where the book is 70 percent pictures. Pictures are worth a thousand words. And for workout demonstration –pictures are the best teachers.

I injured my back a few months back because I did a new exercise called dead lift incorrectly. That put me several weeks out of the gym and I could not work out. And the worst was I could not even move. You might have seen the video I made talking about it. But what I forgot to add to my review on ‘Lose the Back Pain‘ is the Healthy Back Institute could have included extra video that does the exercises along with me. I am a visual learner and like to do things in a class-like environment. Doing the exercises as the instructor directs me; otherwise, I tend to skip out or not work it as hard.

I like that the Healthy Back Institute demonstrate how to do the exercises based on what sort of dysfunction you have. And that’s great if you are one of those people who just want to know what to do and enjoy going off and do everything on your own! But see, I am not like that. And for those of you reading this – who are like me. We would need a little more motivation even if we have the CDs already in our hands or the information in our heads. It’s not that we are lazy; we just like doing our exercises in a class or virtual class kind of environment. It’s more interactive. And we are an interactive type.

Other than that, the exercises are great. It really adjust the muscle imbalances. Which is the reason why our back is all out of whack in the first place. Although, if you are severely injured and can not move much of your limb like I was, I had to start with the easiest stretch movement exercises. Then work on from there as my body began to do better. Yes, it was quite painful and I doubted it’ll work, but there was no other alternative for me. I did not want to continue feeling the pain when there was a possible solution sitting there waiting for me to try. And a note: I even had to wait a few days at the start because moving my body was just not an option. But I did do the most I could by doing whatever stretch my body allowed me to do at the time.

If you have any questions for me, leave me a comment. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.

I saw neti pot ads a few years back. It even made an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. But I didn’t think much of it because I have no allergies or any difficulties with my breathing. However, my fiancé (Mark) had terrible allergies whenever there are pollens around. This was almost year-round. It was so bad during the spring time, that I am forced to lock all my windows. I hated it. See, I’m a person that love the continuous flow of fresh breeze entering my home. The circulation just feels darn good. Who wants to be in a stuffy place with freon coming from the air condition. Feels like prison at work. I need real fresh air.

I didn’t really know about neti pot back then, so I suffered living in our closed second story stuffy AC apartment.

My fiancé heard about it through Eban Pagan’s ‘Wake Up Productive’ course. Eban was introducing the neti pot as one of his morning routines. Eban was sharing the benefits he gained from the neti pot and how it can relieve people with sinus problem or help them breathe easier. My fiancé got excited and wanted to try it. So I bought him the salt and a regular tilt able teapot to experiment with. He was so joyful that he could breathe and was just ecstatic to be outside with nature again more allergy-free. He explained he was breathing more easily and that he didn’t even remember the last time he breathe this easy.

That enticed me, I had to try it. So, I filled it with water and added the recommended salt amount. Had some conflict with getting the water to flow correctly through my nose at first. It went into my mouth. Not a pleasant experience. But after the first two tries, I finally got the hang of it and the warm salted water was flowing easily through my nasal passage. It was quite soothing. I was so surprise by the result. I couldn’t believe it. I too, can breathe easily as well. Didn’t even know I could breathe so much easier than my already easy, uncomplicated breathing. Doing yoga afterward was such a huge difference. So, if you are thinking about trying it out, I think you are going to enjoy the benefits of it.

Here’s a list of the items needed for a Neti Pot experience:

  • A neti pot, or something similar to it that you can tilt and the flow of water can easily trickle down to your nose because of the pressure coming from gravity. Neti pots are available over-the-counter at many drug stores, health food stores, and online retailers. (I just used a regular teapot I bought at the department store. It works just as good. Just don’t serve tea in it afterward. ) But if you want the real neti pot, I’ve included this amazon link here, just click and it will take you directly there. The kit includes everything you need to get you start neti potting in no time. Himalayan Institute Neti Pot Ceramic Starter Kit
  • A heaping ¼ teaspoon of finely ground non-iodized salt
  • 8 oz of warm filtered water (but clean tap water should be okay as well)

Fill your neti pot with warm filtered water and add the ¼ teaspoon of finely ground non-iodized salt. Then let that sit for 5 minute or so until the salt dissolves. Now you are ready to begin.

Leave me comments, I would love to hear about your neti pot experience and how it went.

My fiancé  and I had just finish watching this movie last night. I highly recommend it for those of you who are into personal and spiritual growth. This is a film of inspiration for people at a crossroads in their life.

What is the SHIFT? What is it about? The Shfit - Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

[Spoiler Alert] Dr. Wayne Dyer is great. (I didn’t even know who he is until this very movie.) So for those of you who don’t know him, he is an internationally renowned author and spiritual teacher, and speaker in the field of self-development. In this film, he stars as himself — sharing his life experiences and insights. Who knows, you might actually learn a thing or two about yourself while watching it. I certainly got a few ‘ah-ha’ moments.

The movie is beautifully shot on coastal California’s spectacular Monterey Peninsula … and every frame is gorgeous and the characters…I could pretty much relate to them in one way or another. (Except for the homeless black man, that guy — just does not feel like a real homeless man to me, it was just too fake. I think the people making this film really don’t know much about what homeless people’s vibe feels like. They ought to do their research more. Or perhaps, this is one exceptional homeless man?)

The story centers around three main characters’ modern lives in need of new direction and new meaning. For example, Shannon Sturges’s character is an artist but she abandoned her passion to take care of her husband and two boys. She was so busy worrying about others’ needs that she neglected her own true calling. For her, art is the spark that lights up her fire. Yet, she stopped listening to her heart.

Now, how many of you out there know what you love to do but feel you just can’t because for one reason or another, you feel it is not enough or it’s not the appropriate time or place to do so.

For years, even to this very moment…I still cringe a bit when it comes to sharing my artwork (photographs, paintings, drawings, poems, and even these blog writings) with others. Shannon’s character lost touch with her fire, herself, –her spirit.

If you are curious about how she lit her life back up again, then The Shift is definitely on your movie list. Or maybe, you are searching for a more purposeful, soul-directed life. Then this film is worthy of your watching for inspiration, motivation and a spiritual lift. “The Shift not only inspires, but also teaches [you] how to find the path to [your] spiritual purpose and therefore [your] greatest joy.”

Check out Dr. Wayne W. Dyer’s first feature film—“The Shift!”
